On the day...

After handing in your unique walker number at the Arena you will be given a banana, a bottle of water and a chocolate bar. Once all of the ladies in your time slot have arrived you will be greeted by BBC Radio Devon’s Judi Spiers, thanked by the charities, go through a quick warm up routine and sent on your way!

There will be stewards along the route to cheer you on and ensure you complete the walk safely. The Night Walk is supported by St John Ambulance, Devon and Cornwall Police, Exeter City Council and Raynet Communications who will all have a presence at the event.

Exeter Night Walk 2010 route description
This special moonlit walk is a great night out with refreshments and plenty of giggles along the way. About 10 miles in length (you may opt out at the half way stage and board a mini bus back to the start!), the circular route takes in Exeter Arena, the Cathedral and Wyvern Barracks and this year takes in much more of the river Exe.

The route starts at the Arena and follows Beacon Lane, Prince Charles Road and Old Tiverton Road into the city centre, emerging from Cathedral Green on to North Street. Under the Iron Bridge, we go down Exe Street to Bonhay Road and cross the Millennium Bridge. We take the riverside walk (which will be well lit and stewarded) under the Exe Bridge, crossing to The Quay opposite Haven Banks. We reach Topsham Road via Larkbeare Road, take an optional break at Wyvern Barracks before proceeding on to the Countess Wear roundabout, where we turn left along Rydon Lane, returning to the Arena via Whipton Village.

Exeter Night Walk will provide water, a piece of fruit, chocolate bar and hot drinks at the event. There will also be a selection of complimentary hot snacks at the finish line as a “Thank You & Well-Done” from us! We advise you still bring plenty of fluid for the walk as we’ll only have limited stock.
